PHL III off to a Smooth Start

By: Tommy Rossettini / March 12th, 2021

It’s been a fun start to PHL Season III. As expected, Kyle Cooper’s Anaheim Bullsharks (5-0) seem to be running away with a 2nd consecutive regular season title. However they did have a major scare in their last game against Matt Kaskel’s Seattle Snakes. The game was tied late in the game, until Anaheim pulled away with a 15-11 win, to stay perfect all-time.

The Snakes are sleepwalking through another regular season. Seattle has no problems beating the bottom feeders of the league (Fort Lauderdale and Boston). However, they struggle against the better teams. Once the playoffs begin, Seattle seems to turn it on, as they’ve made it to two consecutive finals appearances (more than any other PHL franchise).

The Howell Hammers are having another above average regular season, as they seem to be a lock for the 2nd seed. Howell dominates the dregs of the East (Boston and FTL) and plays exceptionally well against their biggest rival (Seattle) during the regular season.

As far as the bottom feeders, Brian’s Fort Lauderdale Fortune made some noise last week, as they hired the first head coach in PHL history, Youssuf Elbakry. He clearly has his work cut out for him, as Brian seems highly overmatched in every game.

The Boston Bartenders have yet to play a game this season. I’ve heard rumblings that they may opt-out of the season, do to personal reasons, which may be good news for the Fortune’s chances of clinching the playoffs. Follow me on Twitter @tommyrossettini for the latest updates.

Games should start back up this weekend.
